SURF LESSONS AT JACO BEACH

4.12.14

At first we did not like Jaco beach with its skyscraper condos, high amounts of tourists, big waves, and black sand...who would?
One day a friend showed us a different side of Jaco, the south end of Jaco. where the waves are perfect for beginners, where skyscrapers are just a distant view, where we will finally teach ourselves to surf. there are fewer people here. There is a nice beach front restaurant where you sit amongst large iguanas and the kids can play in the sand.
We knew that the tide wasn't coming in until late afternoon, so that left a big hole for us to fill with beach sand.  We spent the day looking for a previously lost go pro (matt lost a week earlier,)  chasing sea creatures,  and making sand art.
That day 700 hundred cowboys brought their horses for a parade in town which we enjoyed watching on the way out.
The little orange dot in the pacific is our surfer dude Leo.
T
here is a bathing suit in there somewhere so stop looking for it. leo liked his instructor very much... ( I only post this since you can't tell who it is. )
In the afternoon Leo had his first surfing lesson and he loved it. This is the kid that did not want to participate in any sports in north america. Costa rica has given him a love of water, he swims like a fish and surfs like a pro. with his blood shot eyes he said "when can we go again."
We highly recommend the surfer factory for all your board rentals and lessons, they are super cool, very laid back and will even pick you up at your hotel.
Nobody seems to like this beach but somehow its full of people. Granted it is a much younger crowd Jaco beach is still worth a trip. We know we'll be back.
